FIPS 140-2 Validated Encryption

Aviatrix Now Provides FIPS 140-2 Validated Encryption

The Aviatrix portfolio of networking and security software services now provides FIPS 140-2 validated encryption. This significant addition to our services reflects the importance of the public sector and regulated industries as future Aviatrix customers. The U.S. government in particular has made huge strides embracing Cloud technology and we believe that the Aviatrix Enterprise Multi-Cloud Backbone architecture will play a major role in the ongoing innovation in the federal space.

The FIPS 140-2 validation was granted after an independently accredited lab put the Aviatrix’s encryption module through a battery of stringent validation tests. After proving conformance with the FIPS 140-2 standard, the module’s test report was sent to the Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP), operated by the United States National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (CCCS), a branch of the Communications Security Establishment (CSE). Their joint office confirmed compliance and issued certificate #3475, available publicly here.

Aviatrix partnered with SafeLogic, a company dedicated to simplifying the FIPS 140-2 validation process, and saved significant time on the effort. By completing the certification of the implemented encryption module, Aviatrix’s portfolio of cloud networking and security services are now eligible to be procured by any U.S. federal agency, including the Department of Defense, and are ideal for regulated industries like utilities, healthcare, and financial services moving to the cloud.

“FIPS 140-2 validation was a hurdle that we knew we needed to clear,” said founder and Chief Product Officer Sherry Wei. “Our collaboration with SafeLogic streamlined the process, as promised, and enabled our engineers to stay focused on product capabilities.”

“Aviatrix is innovating so quickly, because they are at the focal point of a massive enterprise IT migration to cloud. They needed accelerated certification so that public sector customers could take advantage of their cloud networking and security services as fast as possible,” added SafeLogic CEO Ray Potter. “It’s exciting to be part of a secure software solution empowering enterprise IT organizations on their journey to cloud.”

We will update this blog in the future with more information on new developments in and for the public sector, stay tuned.
