© Aviatrix, 2023. Design Four: Centralized Secure Egress with Existing Transit Solution This design pattern is applicable to following type of businesses: 1. Organizations that are already using AWS Transit Gateway or an existing alternative cloud transit service and have very low volumes of egress data transfer. Centralizing egress means increases the overall cost/GB to egress traffic due to the fact that data is now charged to traverse transit in addition to the egress gateways (NAT/FW). 2. If currently using distributed egress, the organization must be capable of changing outbound public IPs for applications. This includes ensuring that B2B partners allow the new centralized Aviatrix Secure Egress IPs. 3. Organizations that are primarily in a single cloud. The biggest drawback is that this design pattern cannot be repeated across multiple clouds. It is dependent on the native AWS Transit Gateway or an alternative cloud transit service. Customers opting for this design should be aware about following: • Aviatrix can advertise a default route to the existing transit via BGPoGRE, BGPoIPSEC, or BGPoLAN, but it is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that that route is attached to appropriate route tables. • This design provides both scale-up and scale-out throughput depending on throughput requirements. Organizations can increase instance sizes or increase the number of Secure Egress gateways directly from the controller. Finally, a Secure Cloud Network for mission-critical applications.
