A Proactive Approach to Cloud Network Security: Pranjal Gupta’s Journey in Cloud Networking

Aviatrix wants to elevate the work of secure cloud networking heroes who labor to keep networks secure, effective, and performant. We’re proud to highlight people who have taught themselves the necessary skills, designed and managed successful networks, and have the expertise to share.

Our next hero spotlight is on Pranjal Gupta, Network Specialist. See our previous hero spotlights here.

Background: From Traditional Network Operations to Cloud Networking

Pranjal began his journey in tech in 2019 as a Network Analyst, working on LAN/WAN, routing, switching, and connectivity. “Over time, I developed a strong interest in internet technologies and security, which led me to work with Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco Umbrella, FortiGate, SD-WAN, and wireless solutions,” he said. “After resolving several major incidents and collaborating with ISPs and cross-functional teams, I was promoted to Senior Network and Security Analyst.”

In 2022, Pranjal’s curiosity led him to cloud networking. He started learning through Aviatrix ACE training. “The ACE Associate training was truly a game-changer for me,” he explained. “Since then, I’ve completed several ACE certifications including the Operations Specialty, Security Specialty, Cloud Backbone Specialty, and ACE Professional. Each training teaches different skills and they have all laid a solid foundation for me to become proficient in cloud network security.”

Pranjal now works as a Network Specialist, focusing on networking and security and managing Aviatrix in his multicloud ecosystem.

“I love how cloud networking keeps me constantly learning and growing,” Pranjal said. “One of my proudest milestones was transitioning from traditional network operations to cloud networking, specializing in Aviatrix. I’ve resolved critical issues independently, led network architecture reviews, and contributed to making my organization’s multicloud setup more secure and efficient.”

Cloud Network Security: Visibility and Control

Pranjal noted how networking has changed in the last few years. “Networking has evolved from rigid, hardware-based systems to dynamic, cloud-native architectures,” he said. “Today, agility, visibility, and automation are essential.” Over the next ten years, he thinks cloud networking will become even more automated, intent-based, and AI-driven—with security and observability deeply integrated into every layer.

“To me, cloud network security means visibility and control at scale,” Pranjal said. “It’s about building secure, scalable, and resilient architectures while ensuring compliance and segmentation across distributed environments. ”

Since moving to the cloud, Pranjal has been involved in more security conversations than he was in the on-premises world. “In the cloud, security and networking go hand in hand,” he explained. “Every deployment involves considerations like segmentation, access control, and encryption. The cloud requires us to think proactively, and being part of these conversations from the design phase has been both exciting and essential.”

Outside of Work

Outside of work, Pranjal loves to stay mentally active by solving Rubik’s cubes and playing chess. “Learning new technologies is also a personal passion,” he said. “I also enjoy diving into emerging trends in networking and security, even outside of work hours.”
