Aviatrix wants to elevate the work of cloud networking heroes who labor to keep networks secure, effective, and performant. We’re proud to highlight people who have taught themselves the necessary skills, designed and managed successful networks, and have the expertise to share.

Our next hero spotlight is on Irwan Prabowo, Director of Information Technology. See our previous hero spotlights here

Background: Building Hybrid and Multicloud Mastery

Irwan began his tech journey over two decades ago and currently serves as the Director of Information Technology/Country CTO at Advance Intelligence Group, where he’s also part of the Board of Directors. He leads cloud transformation, infrastructure and application localization, and digital ecosystem integration across multiple regions to drive growth and enhance partner collaboration.

“As an IT Director certified in AWS, Azure, and GCP, I’ve gained deep insights into the strengths—and more importantly, the limitations—of native cloud networking when operating at scale in hybrid and multicloud environments,” he said. “That’s where Aviatrix has been a game-changer. Its enterprise-grade, cloud-agnostic network security platform fills critical gaps by offering consistent visibility, advanced security, and policy-driven automation across clouds.”

Irwan has also benefited from the Aviatrix Certified Engineer (ACE) Program, which educates and certifies students across 8 different cloud network security topics. . “Being Aviatrix ACE Certified has equipped me to design resilient, scalable architectures that enable secure, high-performance connectivity for our regional teams and digital partners—without sacrificing agility or compliance,” he said.

From Complexity to Practical Solutions

Irwan’s favorite part of his role is “translating technical complexity into practical, scalable solutions that drive business impact—especially across our digital partner ecosystems.”

“One of my proudest accomplishments was spearheading the localization of our cloud architecture to enable seamless integration with regional counterparts and partner ecosystems,” he explained. “This not only accelerated time-to-market in diverse markets but also strengthened trust and operational alignment across regions.”

Another key milestone was his company’s strategic adoption of Aviatrix, which allowed them to create “a unified, secure, and intelligent cloud native security fabric, which drastically improved operational visibility and agility.”

The Evolution of Networking

In his career, Irwan has seen the networking industry undergo significant changes. “Networking has shifted from being hardware-bound and siloed to becoming software-defined, cloud-native, and agile,” he said. “The evolution has been incredible—from traditional routers and MPLS to cloud-first approaches that emphasize automation, visibility, and security.”

Over the next decade, he believes that cloud networking will become even more intelligent and decentralized, with AI-driven optimization and tighter security integration. “Open, platform-agnostic solutions like Aviatrix will lead the way, enabling organizations to stay flexible and competitive,” he explained.

Cloud Network Security: Securing Data-in-Motion

When asked what “cloud network security” means to him, Irwan explained the full scope of the idea. “Cloud network security is more than just perimeter defense,it’s about securing data-in-motion across a dynamic, multicloud infrastructure,” he said. “It means having visibility, control, and policy consistency at scale. Aviatrix’s security features like distributed firewalling and embedded encryption allow enterprises like ours to go beyond the native limitations of individual cloud service providers and build truly secure, scalable, and agile environments.”

Cost Optimization: A Shift in Mindset

When asked what advice he would give when it comes to a common cloud networking challenge, cost, Irwan advised peers to “treat cloud networking as a strategic investment, not just an operational cost.”  He added:

  • Monitor your network – “Leverage visibility and control platforms like Aviatrix to avoid hidden expenses and eliminate cloud sprawl.”

  • Use resources strategically – “Focus on automation, right-sizing, and using cloud-native features wisely.”

  • Communicate – “Most importantly, educate stakeholders that a well-architected cloud network actually saves more in the long run by avoiding outages, performance bottlenecks, and security breaches.”

Outside of Work

Outside of work, Irwan recharges through art and creativity. “I love drawing and working with different mediums—from charcoal to oil pastels,” he said. He’s a portrait painter; you can find some of his portraits here.    “It's a meditative outlet that helps me think differently, especially when tackling complex cloud or business challenges,” he explained.  Irwan also enjoys mentoring young tech professionals, helping them navigate their careers and discover their leadership potential.
